Congress theme:
Bridging Worlds: Global Knowledge, Local Realities and Better Care.

The FIP World Congress 2027 brings together pharmacy leaders, practitioners, educators and scientists from around the world to explore how pharmacy can bridge global knowledge with local realities, turning science into better care. Hosted in Malaysia — a country uniquely positioned between high- and middle-income health systems and a regional convenor in Asia —  the congress celebrates pharmacy’s role in transforming health through evidence-informed, context-sensitive and patient-centred solutions.

Under the theme Bridging worlds: Global knowledge, local realities and better care,” the congress addresses the pressing health challenges of the Western Pacific Region: the rise of non-communicable diseases, infectious threats, population ageing, and persistent inequities in healthcare access. Delegates will explore how integrated pharmacy practice—grounded in pharmaceutical sciences, powered by education, and delivered by a capable workforce—can transform global insights into practical, sustainable and equitable interventions that improve population health.

The congress is structured around three strategic subthemes that guide programming and discussion:

Subtheme 1: Global evidence, shared responsibility

This subtheme focuses on how global research, guidelines, and innovation can be responsibly applied in practice. Sessions will examine how pharmacists translate scientific advances—from medicines development to digital tools—into safe, effective and accessible care, ensuring that evidence does not remain abstract but drives meaningful impact.

Subtheme 2: Local contexts matter

Here, the emphasis is on education, workforce development, and culturally responsive practice. Delegates will explore how pharmacy teams can adapt global knowledge to local realities, addressing inequities, optimising workforce capabilities, and delivering patient-centred care that respects cultural, economic and health system differences across diverse communities.

Subtheme 3: Resilient health systems in action

This subtheme highlights pharmacy practice as a driver of stronger, more resilient health systems. It showcases integrated pharmacy services that improve access, safety, and quality of care, while addressing ageing populations, chronic disease management, vaccination, environmental risks and emerging health threats. Sessions will focus on practical models where practice, science and workforce converge to strengthen health systems and deliver measurable health outcomes.

Together, the congress presents a unique opportunity to see how global knowledge can be translated into local realities, creating better care for all. Participants will leave equipped with insights, tools, and collaborative strategies to advance pharmacy’s impact on health systems, communities and patient outcomes worldwide.
